Tunisia... Finally some uprisings in Egypt.. Yemen...
Is this finally a sign of a new spring in the Arab world? Will it inspire others?
Will they really go towards freedom, or will it balance towards Islamist parties and it's just old wine in new bags?
What do you think?
Hello Michael and Wilbert, as per usual I do not agree with you - what's new? :) I think it is fantastic news. If the mood swings the right way, that is.

Hi,
My wife and I are going to Sousse for a week in September from England. I have a few questions about costs.
I have found a return taxi transfer online for about £45 from Monastir airport. Is it better to get a taxi when we arrive?
How much is a typical meal?
What will the weather be like?
How much is wine and beer?
What day trips are available (boat-trips, desert trips, famous landmarks etc.) and how much?
Will it be too hot to visit the desert?
How much can we expect to pay for a carpet / rug?
Is it easy to get around from Sousse by train and how much are tickets?
I think thats it.
Cheers,
Matt.

My wife and I are professional English educators and she's been asked to interview for a family living in Tunis.
One thing I can't find an answer to in guidebooks or on-line is local attitudes towards men having long hair. Is it a non-issue like here in Europe or is Tunisia more conservative and backwards like the US? I'm from the US originally but when traveling I'm more often assumed to be from western Norway (which is where my grandparents were from).
My hair is waist length and I won't be cutting it for anyone for any reason. Even if I didn't have personal ethical and aesthetic objections to cutting it, I still wouldn't since it is an asset in the fashion and photographic modeling I do on the side.
I don't mind if its considered odd by local standards once I'm there but I find it's good to know in advance when entering into negotiations with clients.
Tunisia sounds like it could be an interesting country to live in for a few years, it sounds much more friendly than Russia (where we were for the past three years). My wife spent a few weeks there a few years ago and enjoyed it. As long as I can get decent beer and wine I'm sure I'll adjust.
