Jill Kinmont Boothe was someone I idolized since high school. You may have seen the movie, "The Other Side of the Mountain", which is about her. She grew up in Bishop, CA, and skied Mammoth Mountain when it was just getting its start, back in the 1950's. In the last qualifying race for the 1956 Olympics, at Alta, UT, she crashed and broke her neck, leaving her paralyed from the shoulders down. With the support of her family and friends she was able to rise above her situation and become a schoolteacher to Paiute Native Americans. She has since built a school for them.
I just found out today she died last month, 2 days before Whitney Houston, 4 days before her 76th birthday.
I'm SO glad I took the chance to meet her while I could! Over the 4th of July weekend in 1993, I drove out to Mammoth Lakes for adventure. I found her and her mother listed in the phone book and drove down to Bishop to meet them. They let me take pictures and everything! I also got to ski Mammoth Mountain on July 4th, and sok in natural hot springs under the moon, with a wonderful couple sharing wine, cheese and crackers with everyone there.
You guys, if you still have a chance, MEET YOUR SUPERHERO!!! You will cherish the memory forever!
P.S. My facebook address is http://www.facebook.com/#!/AuroraAndrome…
I will be posting pictures of my trip in a couple days, soon as I can scan them onto my hard drive.
I have just uploaded my photos on my facebook site, and established a site for Jill Kinmont Boothe. Enjoy!

What is this poem about. I think it is about finding the simple things in life. am I close?? thanks
Summer’s first month, all plants grow tall;
around my cottage, trees dense and full.
The narrow lanes keep out deep ruts,
and tend to turn away old friends’ carts.
In pleasure I pour out the wine of spring
and pick from the garden’s vegetables.
A light rain is moving in from the east,
a nice breeze comes along with it.
I browse in the tales of the King of Zhou
look through the charts of the Mountains and Seas.
In an instant I have covered the universe —
if this is not joy, what is?

Song of Solomon 4
Lover
1 How beautiful you are, my darling!
Oh, how beautiful!
Your eyes behind your veil are doves.
Your hair is like a flock of goats
descending from Mount Gilead.
2 Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn,
coming up from the washing.
Each has its twin;
not one of them is alone.
3 Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon;
your mouth is lovely.
Your temples behind your veil
are like the halves of a pomegranate.
4 Your neck is like the tower of David,
built with elegance [a] ;
on it hang a thousand shields,
all of them shields of warriors.
5 Your two breasts are like two fawns,
like twin fawns of a gazelle
that browse among the lilies.
6 Until the day breaks
and the shadows flee,
I will go to the mountain of myrrh
and to the hill of incense.
7 All beautiful you are, my darling;
there is no flaw in you.
8 Come with me from Lebanon, my bride,
come with me from Lebanon.
Descend from the crest of Amana,
from the top of Senir, the summit of Hermon,
from the lions' dens
and the mountain haunts of the leopards.
9 You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride;
you have stolen my heart
with one glance of your eyes,
with one jewel of your necklace.
10 How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride!
How much more pleasing is your love than wine,
and the fragrance of your perfume than any spice!
11 Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride;
milk and honey are under your tongue.
The fragrance of your garments is like that of Lebanon.
12 You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride;
you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain.
13 Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates
with choice fruits,
with henna and nard,
14 nard and saffron,
calamus and cinnamon,
with every kind of incense tree,
with myrrh and aloes
and all the finest spices.
15 You are [b] a garden fountain,
a well of flowing water
streaming down from Lebanon.
Beloved
16 Awake, north wind,
and come, south wind!
Blow on my garden,
that its fragrance may spread abroad.
Let my lover come into his garden
and taste its choice fruits

Missing in Switzerland
One May I walked in meadows,
spring flowers did abound
and all the cows had cowbells,
I heard their ringing sound.
The buildings were all chalets,
the air was pure and cold,
I thought I'd gone to Heaven
and found my pot of gold.
The glaciers were moving
and glinted diamond bright.
I breathed in melting moments,
I felt the sheer delight.
I bathed my skin in sunbeams
and wandered by the lake.
I climbed up half a mountain
before I took a break
I dined on steak and red wine
admired the gemstone view
Then cried that you were missing
and knew that it was true.
Good idea Beth: Change I dined on steak and red wine to : I dined on chateaubriand (lol)
No TD's from me, there appears to be a troll around
Thanks Synopsis : line 2, how about: spring flowers scattered round
HH - yeh - thought you'd like this one (smiles) both glaciers AND flowers, and all for you!
