Have you ever heard of scuppernong wine? The scuppernong is a kind of muscadine grape native to North Carolina, named for the Scuppernong River and has been grown and cultivated there since the 17th century.

I really enjoy sweet wines. I like reisling, white zinfandel, lambrusco and there is a NC wine I like that is made with scuppernong grapes that I really like, I just can't think of the name right now. Can anyone give me some advice on what I can try? I would like to venture out into the reds too. I just don't want anything too harsh.
Thanks!
By harsh, I am meaning the really dry taste.

I have noticed if I drink Welchs 100% grape juice, my uvula swells that night and I gag. I am not singling out Welchs. That is just the brand we usually buy. In their defense, I tried a scuppernong wine last night and same thing happened. Any thoughts on why?

i have recently gotten a bottle of homemade scuppernong/muscadine wine that was my grandfathers. It looked great and clear on the top and had settled out at the bottom. It is from august 2001 and has never been opened yet after bottling. i accidentally shook it when i turned it on its side and now the wine is a musty dusty brown color. How can i get its good color back? Just sit and let it settle out on its own? i dont want to ruin the flavors and I want it to be good. any help will be appreciated. :D
