sahr-DIN-ee'yah) Shop for wine from Sardinia Fairly removed from Italy, both geographically and culturally, Sardinia has more grazing animals than vineyards. An agricultural community, the small island is secluded. With high influences from Spain as much as Italy, the grapes of the region hail from both countries. Notable Facts The most popular and most planted variety is Cannonau (otherwise known as Grenache). It produced delicious and often ageable reds that are both dry and sweet, although more commonly dry. Carignano (Carignan) and Giro are other red varieties grown here. For whites, Vernaccia (not the same grape as found in other parts of Italy) di Oristano produces a dry, sherry-like wine, while crisp, dry whites are most often made from the Vermentino grape and found in the northern regions of Sardinia. Some wineries, like Sella & Mosca, are also growing international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. These grapes can be bottled as single varietals or blended with local varieties, like Cannonau. Read More

The wines in Sardinia are exceptional and one particular grape – Cannonau (otherwise known as Grenache in France or Garnacha in Spain) tickled our taste buds in all the right places! Rich, full-bodied and often served in a ...
Does anyone know about a Sardinian wine called Cannonau? It's a relative of the Garnacha grape of Spain. It is said to have 5 to 10 times the amount of procyanidins than an average wine, including Garnacha. So I'm wondering what causes this wine produced in Sardinia to have this amount of antioxidants and its relative in Spain or France to not have the same amount

I've heard that some types of red wines contain lots of antioxidants. What type typically has the most. I've also heard about a type found in Sardinia that has roughly 3x more than any other known red wine.

I went to Sardinia a couple of years ago and discovered a great Agriturismo just outside of Alghero to stay at (though I only ate there last time).
I'm staying there this time on the first and last day of a week-long holiday. I'm hiring a car and intend to drive around to see the sites and experience more of the great food and wine.
Any recommendations for other Agriturismos and/or restaurants or sites I mustn't miss would be great!

What are recommended red wines from the south of France or the Sardinia Italy regions? I've read these are wines with highest health benefits. I'm wanting to start drinking wine and do not know much.. I would say I prefer dry, not so sweet wine... Any suggestions?

I'm not looking for moscato d'asti or any of those easily found in any liquor department across the country. I'm looking for this specific wine I had while in Italy( Sardinia- lamaddalena to be specific) and cannot find anywhere. not even online. Has anyone else ever heard of it and know a way I can get some?
If you read the question i am very aware of moscato and muscat. moscato is the italian version and what I am looking for. I don't have the label or remember the name otherwise I wouldn't have asked. It was 10 years ago and I am looking for anyone with details on how to find it since I haven't been able to.

Hello all ..just in case you where wondering. why i havent been around ..i had some issues with my already disfuctinal heart..but not to worry ill get reborn again....
SO i was reading up in health IN GENERAL and came across this article by BRIGID O'CONNELL of the sunday telegraph in sydney.. it was in the papaer but i cant give alink as it was not important enough to post..any way it goes like this.
NINE key factors to enjoy a very long life ..by brigid o'connell
SCIENTISTS have indentified that people living in the.that people living in the BLUE ZONES,-countries where you have 10 times greater chance of living to 100-are more active, eat less meat, drink wine andsurround themselves with the right people.
The zones include SARDINIA,in italy. OKINAWA in japan, SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTin CARLIFORNIAS loma linda. NICOYA peninsula in costa rica. and ICARIA in greece.
A team of researchers and scientists concluded there were 9 common lifestyle
similarities between each of the five BLUE ZONES: including having the right outlook, being active, eating less meat and drinking wine and surrounding yourself with the right people
The reprort goes on to comapre places like sydney how they are doing the wrogn thing by eating the wrong thing and lack of exerscise.....needles to say that this is add for a chief ceral producer sanaturuim but it does show that there are BLUE ZONES AROUND THE WORLD..
why are there what do u think makes them so apart fromt he obvious report? any input u may have will intresting..
BY THE WAY I HAVE HEAR THAT IN ICARIA they have the best lambs!or is it KATZIKAKIA(KIDS)
thanks to any one takign the time to answer hope ur all well.
@morfing..ty for all those links.and the additional info on ICARIA.. of all the facts of the blue zones,,what sticks out in my mind the most is the fact of sourrounding your self with the rigth people..PERHAPS this the biggest ailment..the rest of the world has ..i guess its important and paramount to just have friends who dont compete with you but are equall in making you happy and and recepicatingin return with out expectations. AS children we learn this as our first lesson, and make our first friend as they please us. do YOU REMEBER YOUR VERY FIRST FRIEND! but how quickly ..we forget that principle as we are told compettion is good for you by the disguise of doing better than him or her.i can only speak for my self as i alwasy felt by competeing with others it has robbed me of my full potential by trying to imitate them ...
THE other thing i would like to mention i knew about the KATSIKAKIA (RASKA) way back in 82..as i was told by my then 8 year old cousin, her mum was icarian.
@morfing continue:::: the 8 year old use to beat the hell out of me at chess ..lol i was 23...OMG game after game would u belive.. but what i noticed about her cause she grew up in ICARIA she was very vibraiant in all her conversation and thinking ..not a sigh or pause what so ever..and lets not mention her ability on TAVLI... and she was secodn to her brother..in talent..he got bored half way through our first game..lol..i guess it does pay to sourround your self with the RIGHT PEOPLE at least it uncloudes ur head..any way she was the one telling me about the raska way back then....and i tellyou what...i love lamb but i must admit katzikaki kokinisto is heaven doent he xoriotico way extrmelly tender meat....
@alegeniki and sankegodess ..ty for ur answers too. and ur well wishes....i see there are at least 6 people who started it ty too to those. and speacial thanks to ALLAN...al though u shit me i do like u ..becasue ur persistent..and ty @ i want to know.
