Tesco Finest* Picpoul de Pinet 2010, Languedoc, France (£7.29 Tesco) Fresh clean style with a bracing marine tang, combines a fleshy peachiness with firmer, tauter apple and citrus flavours, and a leafy finish. B+ ...
If you enjoy a glass of Sauvignon Blanc then this southern French white would be worth a try. Bring on summer...
The Picpoul Blanc is high in acidity with a refreshing tang. It's also called "lip-stinger" and well deserves the name. A sip of Picpoul Blanc is a kiss from a flirtatious teenage girl teasing an older man; I'm reminded of an incident ...
A much different Picpoul than the first one, Felines is one of my favorites we have had in the store. Judging by how much we sell of it, it seems to be a favorite among our customers too. Felines is perfect with its full-flavored ...
Picpoul de Pinet specifically refers to white wine from the Languedoc region of France made exclusively from Piquepoul blanc. Although most popular in its blanc form, Piquepoul or Picpoul grapes can also be found as blush ...
The Story:
I prepared a simple dish this evening; angel hair pasta with Brussels
sprouts, homemade pasta sauce and garlic potato bread toast.
Now, I decided to have a bottle of wine with my dinner, so I purchased
a bottle of 2010 Coteaux Du Languedoc, Picpoul De Pinet.
In my personal opinion, it went well with the sprouts because they
complimented each other with somewhat pronounced, vibrant flavors.
Anyway, a gent I know name Ken stated that he was shocked by my
wine choice and that I basically couldn't have chosen a worse wine.
Input, anyone?
Sincerely, James S.
P.S. I realize a White Zinfandel would have gone well with the sprouts,
I just rather liked the Picpoul De Pinet's airy flavor, oddly enough.
