"... it is surely no coincidence that the disastrous years of 1411-13, which brought drought, bad harvests, and plague, also witnessed the acceptance and popularity of Vincent Ferrer's anti-semitic preaching tours and the formulation of oppressive anti-Jewish legislation. It may also prove to be the case that the uprising and massacres in Toledo (Spain) in 1449 were not unconnected with harvest failures in that particular region in 1448. The most striking example, however, relates to the massacres in Andalusian towns in 1473. From September 1472 until May 1473 there was prolonged drought; sowing, which had been delayed as long as possible, produced a deficient harvest, and the hopes of the spring sowing were dashed by yet another drought during the remainder of 1473. These grim conditions, however, seem to have been at their worst in Andalusia, and it was there that there occurred the ferocious killings of conversos which, beginning in March 1473 in Cordoba, quickly enveloped other southern towns.
A remarkable study of one of the two surviving versions of the Castilian Dance of Death, the Danca de la Muerte, shows that popular unrest was fascinatingly complex and not merely anti-semitic in nature. The Dance begins and ends with the preacher in the pulpit and with calls to repent from sin. A close textual analysis of this version, however, reveals that the twenty-five new characters which it contains were not 'abstract' people accused to vague 'theological' sins, such as avarice or pride. On the contrary, they were exclusively urban characters drawn from the streets of Seville who were charged with specific 'social' crimes - for example, selling dear bread, shortweight fish, putrid meat, and adulterated wine."

At first I was just planning to see Spain and spend there one month or so. But since I found out that I don't need visa for Schengen area (being a US citizen), I decided maybe it will be good idea to see Portugal on my way as well.
I am thinking about landing in Lisbon, see it. Maybe see some other places (but I know very little about Portugal, maybe someone could give me some advise?),
Then I was thinking to go to Seville and Cordoba (maybe Granada)... (I want to see Moorish Spain)
Then I will to go to Toredo and Madrid. (I also was thinking about short trip to Avila, maybe)
After that I probably will go to Barselona and fly back to USA.
Can you give me some advise? And maybe how long I should spend in each city?
I plan to be there one month and my interests are historical architecture (plus good food and wine :) )....
