I met this CUTE young Mexican guy. He just graduated from college in Spain. I have been trying REAL hard to get his attention. I inherited a little money and bought a big Moto Guzzi Motorcyle. I showed it to him, and he suggested we go on a picnic. Yes!
I want him to be happy. So I asked him what he wanted to eat. He just got all vague. He said "Oh, jew no, jus som bread, an chez, and wine, and grapes, mabbe sum sardines. In Espain, we go on picnic, all de time."
I was so busy looking at his beautiful green eyes, I didn't ask him what type. So like, is there some some of standard for what wine, cheese, bread you take on a picnic? And who the heck eats sardines on a picnic? I am from Southern California. I know Taco Bell and Burger King. My friends at work said to buy French bread called a baget. But I have no clue on what cheese or wine would be normal for someone who just spent four years in Spain. And would he REALLY want sardines? Yech.

My boyfriend is turning 40 and I'm planning a (non surprise) birthday party for him. There will be about 50 adults, average drinkers...some will drink a good amount, some may not drink at all, and 15-20 children ranging ages 2 to 12. I want to keep it simple with the food and drink but have plenty to go around. I am on a budget but I don't want to be cheap or skimpy!
For drinks I was planning on a half keg of his favorite beer, a few bottles of wine, and a friend is bringing a huge cooler of home made sangria. Will that be enough?
For food, I am thinking, plenty of crackers, cheese, grapes, chips and dip for apps. Burgers, hotdogs, steak and chicken/veggie kabobs, potatoe salad, spinach salad, pasta salad. Is this enough of a selection? How much do I need to buy?
For decorations I am going to string all the white christmas lights around the deck and a friend is letting me borrow their big speakers and jumpy house for the kids.
Am I on the right track? Any suggestions? I've never entertained/cooked for this many and I don't want to be all stressed out the day of the party!!!
