Tokubetsu Junmai. Made by Asamai Shuzo, Akita Prefecture. Raisins and earthiness in faint nose. Overall slightly dry flavor but with nice fruity essences in the recesses, supplanted by nice rice-like tones and a gentle sweetness beneath.

Alec was down in the Quad Cities for a show, nothing interesting but a great day for Loki the akita who is just starting out his championship quest. No points, but a ... Bonfire and Wine---6ish till we run out of wood. Bring a lawn ...
I have read much debate on shaving Akitas. It seems to be divided down the middle of what is better for them. I see both sides. My situation: my pride and joy is an 20 month old Akita. He keeps up with the neighbors boxers he is so fast and active. We live on a 90 acre farm , he is very well behaved. Last summer on a walk through SHADY woods he got heat exhaustion, when it was only 88 degrees out and the walk was not long. It is lucky we own a pond because the nearest vet is well over 30mins away. Mostly he is indoors, but does run around outside in the early morning when we feed the horses and late evening. The built-in air conditioning as people call it does not seem to work with him, he is a very dark color and even when in the sun for a minute you can feel the heat on the black of his coat.
I am considering shaving him. Not because of shedding, he is already done over with that. I want him to be comfortable. I am not worried about the coat growing back properly for aesthetic purposes. I ONLY CARE ABOUT MY DOGS WELL BEING. NOT THE LIVELIHOOD I CAN MAKE OFF HIS BLOODLINES.
Please only answer if you have a constructive point. There are many questions out there about this subject. There are many answers from show people out there, about how it can disrupt their chances at wining a competition. I don't want to hear that. I as many owners out there care about my dog not the appearance of his coat.
So, My dog is indoors (in air conditioning) during the hottest part of the day and still pants if it is over 71.2 degrees. He will be exposed to very little sun radiation (he is a shade seeking missile). Is it better for my Akita to shave him so he can feel the coolness of the tile floors more closely and be more comfortable in the summer months to come?
Again constructive thoughts on the dogs well being are helpful, especially first hand accounts.
Thank you!

And left my wine glass unattended on the coffee table for a minute while I checked on dinner in the oven. When I turned back to the living room I caught my Akita/APBT mix with his tongue in my glass! He only got a lap and is a big guy (about 65 lb) so I'm not concerned about him.... what I want to ask is should I dump the glass or just drink it?
I know it sounds crazy but I don't want to waste expensive wine! I think I'm going to dump it, but I just wanted to hear what your opinions are lol =)

It is a very common theme on these forums especially to see someone challenging a believer in God to show a shred of proof that God exists. Even those that are otherwise very faithful to God sometimes want to see physical proof of His existence. Yet, throughout history, time and time again proof has been given to us that God exists and it is always met with the same skepticism. It is difficult to comprehend that there is a Being that is eternal and yields infinite power and so people irrationally disbelieve in proof thrust before our very eyes. Below are a few examples of proof that God exists:
1.) The miracle at Fatima was witnessed by 100,000 people.
2.) At Lanciano, Italy in 700 AD, the eucharistic bread and wine literally become a human heart and type AB blood during mass.
3.) Incorruptibility of unembalmed corpses. See St Bernadette and Padre Pio who died and did not so much as stiffen.
4.) Various statue-related miracles. See Statue in Akita.
5.) Various sightings of Our Lady. Specifically, see the Marian apparition in Zeitoun which was even video-taped.
6.) The Shroud of Turin
There are many more than mentioned here but I find these among the most irrefutable.
My point is this, you disbelieve because that is what you want to do. Don't sit here and tell me that you want proof that God exists because the proof is there and either you don't care to find it or you choose to disbelieve it. There is nothing in the universe that proves that God does not exist but there is a lot that proves that He does.
Let me take care of the atheist (type 3) comments for you:
atheist1:
God doesn't exist.
atheist2:
Enjoy your blind faith.
atheist3:
Religion is the cause of all the world's problems.
If you have anything constructive to say, let's hear it.
I love that many commenters proved my point wonderfully. There is room for science to disprove one or more of the items on the list; however, you will never take the time to read the facts that prove these events are real. There will always be some people who oppose things like this. Read both arguments. The evidence for these events is far stronger than against. I hope you all find what you are looking for.
Emile,
Great answer but learn to put the ball away!

Okay I am a huge Rent-Head EVERYONE and their dog knows this. I have driven 8 hours to NYC Just to see some original cast members reprise their roles in rent (just to come back the next day). Did nothing else while I was there. lol. I plan to go to all 5 shows on the final tour when they are near here and drive 4 hours to Cleveland to see a few shows there too. Our first dance is going to be "Where Do I begin" by Idina Menzel (the original Maureen in the show) And our last dance will be Seasons of Love from the show too.
ANYWAYS on to the question:
So I want to play my all time favourite song (which is from the show) La Vie Boheme... problem it's a little dirty...okay there are parts that are REALLY dirty. lol There are no clean versions of it anywhere (it's impossible to have a clean version if you know anything about the song and the show). The only person it would offend is my grandma and her husband. Everyone else loves the song and would love dancing to it.Should I play it? It really does have a great message (especially if you know the story of the show)
For those who don't know the song I'll post the lyrics: (here's the video too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SPxtv3KW9A

So Tex our new 5 month olf Akita/Shepard mix is fitting into the family just fine. He has all new chew toys, loves his tug rope, a new crate for bedtime and we gave him a bath to get the kennel smell out of him he is all clean and feed and happy. I am so glad we adopted from the shelter it feels good to know we gave this loving smart cutie pie a home. He seems to already know house training. As he wines when he has to go out. If anyone knows how and if you can post pictures on here I would love to show him off. Let me know please.

My black lab/rottweiler/akita mix dog all of the sudden wont jump up on my bed. She spends most of her time on my bed looking out the window and now she wont jump up. Ever since a few weeks ago she has been losing her appetite and wont eat and was puking every night on and off for the past 3 weeks, but would still jump on my bed. Now she has her appetite and is eating and drinking water regularly but now wont jump up on my bed. She has also been sleeping in other rooms of the house, which she NEVER does. I give her the compand to jump up on my bed and she acts like she cant and just walks back and forth and paws at me wining, so i help her up and shes fine. I take her out on a walk everyday and she acts the exact same and still has tons of energy. I washed all my bedding and vacuumed and cleaned carpets and she still wont jump up. I dont know what to do I dont have the money to take her to the vet. I am hoping that this is just a fase. If anybody has any info that will help me with this problem please help!
She is only 2 years old and i felt around her whole body and she feels fine. When i am out on walks she is running and jumping around everywhere but when it come to jumping on my bed she acts weird about it.
